Geography

Geography: the study of different earth surfaces, such as climate, elevation, soil using maps and globes to view different regions.

Within this unit, the students will analyze and investigate different maps and discover how they can gain information by looking at different maps. We will also learn how people and different places are located on different continents, within different countries, and live on different types of land forms.  

The key vocabulary words that we will focus on will be: map, symbols, map key, direction, compass rose, globe, continent, ocean, country, city, land forms.

By the end of the unit, the student will be able to:

1) Identify how basic geographic tools are used to organize information. (7.1.2.A)

2) Describe regions in geographic references using physical features (7.1.2.B)

3) Identify the effect of local geography on the residents of the region (food, clothing, trade,etc) (7.3.2.A).

Game/Activity to Do: Buster’s Connect the States Learn about the different states within the United States while learning about the type of food or animal you might find in that region!
