November

Week of 11/18

Hello Parents!

I cannot believe that it is almost Thanksgiving! I wish you and your family warm wishes and safe travels over the holiday season! If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me at hayley_hassinger@elanco.org.

Upcoming Dates:

No School- Thanksgiving Holiday 11/27-12/02

Holiday Shop 5:00-7:30PM 12/06

December PTO Meeting 12/10

This week, we continued talking about matter in inquiry. We discussed how objects change between states (solid, liquids, and gases) and how this can affect what we choose to do with different objects. We discussed the Scientific Method during this unit and applied the steps to our experiment with oobleck. Learners were curious about the consistency of oobleck. We researched this question, created a hypothesis, and tested it. We talked about why we think this happens based on what we learned about matter. We will begin a new unit next week about economics. In reading, we wrote character stories with an emphasis on point of view, problem, and solution. Learners are choosing a point of view to focus their story on. Learners will be sharing their stories next week with their peers. Next week in reading, we will begin to tie in our comprehension goals with Thanksgiving themed readings. In math, we are practicing addition and subtraction with 2 digit numbers. We began to discuss the concepts of borrowing and regrouping. We will continue to work on this over the next few weeks.

We will discuss the Scientific Method during this unit and apply the steps to different experiments that we complete. In reading, we are beginning to write new character stories with an emphasis on point of view, problem, and solution. Learners are choosing a point of view to focus their story on.
