Ms. Sharir’s Biography

It has been an interesting journey for me to reach this year.  I began as a stay-at-home mom of three children then decided to go back to college for my bachelor’s degree in elementary education.  When my youngest child when to kindergarten, I began teaching for ELANCO School District at Summit Valley Elementary School.  There I taught 6th and 5th grades for 10 years before moving to Blue Ball for 3 years.

As my children grew up and left home, I decided I wanted to work with older students so I went back to college to get my degree in English.  Although I originally applied to the high school for an English position, I was offered the gifted support teacher job and accepted.  That was more than 11 years ago and I haven’t looked back since! In fact, I got my Masters in Gifted Education from Millersville University.

I am now working with the middle school gifted students also and thoroughly enjoying it.

When I’m not at school what do I like to do?

  • visit my children who live all over the country
  • read
  • write creative stories
  • weave on a loom, spin yarn on a spinning wheel, and knit
  • read
  • garden
  • did I mention reading?
  1. science fiction
  2. fantasy
  3. historical novels
  4. autobiographies
  5. fiction as well as non-fiction
  6. practically anything with words in print!
