Global Goal #6 Clean Water and Sanitation

The global goals are made up of 17 goals. They are each to be accomplished by 2030. This week we are focusing on global goal #6 Clean Water and Sanitation. Why is this important? Global goal #6 is important because 1 in 3 people live with no sanitation. This can lead to death and different diseases. Without clean and affordable water people die because they are drinking unsafe water.  The Global Goals website has eight targets. One of them is to have safe and affordable drinking water for everyone. I think that one of the targets should be that the safe and affordable drinking water should be nearby because in some places they have to walk a long way to get clean water. In some cases it’s not even clean. Picture yourself without the ability to get clean water. Right now you live where you can get up and walk 5 steps to get fresh and clean  water but now,  picture it if you had to walk 5 miles to get dirty water and that’s all you had. If that was me I would not even drink the water I would rather never drink water in the world.

In class we watched a video on TED Talk. A man had came up with a water bottle that turns contaminated unhealthy water into fresh drinkable water.  He gave an example and all he had to do was pump one end of the bottle and the water was fresh to drink. He was inspired by hurricanes and tsunamis that hit places. He saw how people reacted to get water, he said it made him feel angry and needed to do something.
