A List About Me (for your parents to read to you)

  • I make lists. You can too!  It can be a great way to start writing.
  • I love children’s books!
  • I grew up in Delaware, with 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
  • We moved to Chester County Pennsylvania when I was 13. Although I moved away for many years, when I returned, it felt like home.
  • I loved camping and visiting art museums and historic sites when I was growing up. (I still do.)
  • I studied natural resources in college.
  • I worked for the United States Forest Service for 20 years—mostly as a museum curator and historian.
  • I met my husband while folk dancing in Philadelphia. We sent each other post cards when we were dating, even though we lived close to each other.
  • We raised 2 super sons. (Max is 22, and has a degree in Fine Arts.  Asa is 19, and wants to be a genetic engineer.  He goes to college in Boston.)
  • I have a very supportive family, with wonderful senses of humor. We like to play games after dinner. Uno and Bananagrams are our favorites.
  • We lived in China from 2002-2004. That is when I started teaching. I taught English to students who were in 6th -8th grades, as well as high school students in 10th and 11th
  • I enjoy traveling— I think it would be cool to see the Monarch butterflies in Mexico after their long migration from Pennsylvania.
  • My favorite radio show is Kids Corner on WXPN. I smile and laugh whenever I listen.  I think the host, Kathy O’Connell is amazing! If you have a chance to listen to it, I think you will love it too! It’s on Monday through Thursday nights from 7PM to 8PM, on 88.7 FM
  • I believe in education—I know there are lots of different ways people learn. I hope you have a wonderful time learning in 2nd Grade!
