The Census is a survey that people take every 10 years. It was created because the founding fathers knew that the population would increase so they created a checkup every decade. The census is really important to take seriously. For younger children, it is even more important because if you say that 4 people live in your house but you have a younger child that you did not count then the government will give less money for the schools because they think there is one less child. In 2010 about a million children under age 5 weren’t counted. When kids are undercounted, the government doesn’t budget enough money for programs and schools. The more we take the census seriously and answer correctly then the government distributes billions of dollars every year to projects and institutions like schools, fire departments, health clinics, and highway construction and maintenance.
