Meet the Teachers

Meet Miss Dietrich…

Miss Dietrich

This will be my 11th year teaching in the Eastern Lancaster County School District.  I graduated from Millersville University with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Athletic Coaching. I then received my Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Literacy from Wilkes University. Previously, I taught third grade at Caernarvon Elementary and second and fourth grades at Blue Ball Elementary.

Originally a dairy farm girl from Lehigh County, I officially moved to Lancaster in 2004 where I still reside today. Fourteen years ago, I adopted my “fur baby” Beau, a cat. She loves acting as my alarm clock by meowing each morning at 6am sharp!

This summer my fiance, Mike, and I enjoyed two of our favorite things: attending major and minor league baseball games and golfing as much as possible! We also traveled to Cape May, New Jersey and Asheville, North Carolina to vacation. In my down time, I read a few novels and frequented Lancaster’s Central Market. One fun fact about me is that I worked at Yellowstone National Park for the summer of 2001.

I have quickly learned to love the Brecknock community and am excited to teach sixth graders again!

Meet Mrs. Snyder…

Heather Pic

This will be my 24th year teaching at Brecknock Elementary. I graduated from Indiana University of     Pennsylvania with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  I then received my Master’s Degree in   Reading and Language Arts with a Reading Specialist Certificate from Millersville University.  I have taught second, fourth, fifth and sixth grades here at Brecknock and have truly enjoyed being a part of the Bowmansville community for all these years!

My husband Rod and I have been married for 25 years and have three children.  Halle  age 18, Griffin age 14, and Lilah age 9. The furry four footed members of our family include Cooper our Goldendoodle and Socks and Tigger our two rescue kitties!  My father lives right next door to our house in Ephrata  and my brother and his family live  just outside of Allentown Pa.

My family and I were fortunate to travel to Ocean City New Jersey this summer !  We love the beach!  We also traveled to my dad’s lake house as well as to Pittsburgh for a Pirates game! We spent a lot of time biking, and picnicking with friends as well as hitting our favorite ice cream spots!

I’m looking forward to teaching the sixth graders this year! We are going to have a great year!

Meet Mrs. Grigas…

I am a Midwest native, having earned a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education from Illinois State University in 1984. I taught special education in Illinois and California, returning to the Chicagoland area as my husband and I began our family of 3 boys.  I was a stay-at-home mom for many years and moved to Lancaster County 14 years ago. I have fallen in love with the bucolic countryside, slower pace of life and of course, the Atlantic Ocean! I have been teaching in the ELANCO district for 9 years, having earned my MA in Education from Eastern Mennonite University a few years ago. I am thrilled to work with this group of 6th graders for another year.

My husband and I have been married for 29 years and are recent empty nesters! We keep busy bicycling around this beautiful county, spending time with Molly, our bulldog and skyping with our boys whenever we can. Time has flown by and our boys, now young men are the joy of our lives! We had a wonderful family vacation in the OBX, did a little camping and moved our middle son to Boston to attend law school. We are a proud Penn State family; our youngest is beginning his second year at main campus and our oldest graduated from PSU last year and is now working in Detroit- a long way from home!!
