Veteran’s Day 2016

On Monday, November 14th we invited three Veteran’s into our classroom. The students rotated through three different rooms, spending about twenty minutes in each room, listening to the stories of the Vets. The Veterans were asked to share about their age when they served, the branch of military and their job, how many years they served and positives and negatives. They also brought in artifacts and memorabilia to share with the students. After the rotations, we met in one room to honor the Veterans as a group, we presented them with a small gift to say our thanks and the students brought tears to every adult in the room when they sang “America the Beautiful” to our special guests. A special thank you to all Veterans who have served our country. We are most grateful. And as one Veteran shared with our students, the best way to say thank you to a Veteran is to be a good citizen and to make good choices. They also spoke to the students about listening to their parents and teachers and learning as much as they can. It was such a neat day, and one we will all remember.

Dads and Donuts

In November we enjoyed having many dads join their kids for a breakfast before school started. I have to admit that I thought the donuts would be good with coffee until I realized that some of the kids may have had a taste of coffee before school…thank goodness it was Dads, Donuts and MILK! 🙂 Full moon, Halloween on a Monday and Thanksgiving break was enough excitement for one month!

A special thank you to all the dads who came out!
