Wow! I can’t believe we’re looking towards the end of the year already! The students continue to work hard each day. We have wrapped up our unit on Measurement and are now working on Geometry and Fractions. We are learning about 2-D and 3-D shapes such as triangles, quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, octagons, cubes, prism, cylinders, and spheres. We’re also talking about the characteristics of shapes such as how many sides or edges, how many angels or vertices, and how many faces. The students have been doing a great job exploring these!
As a collaborative project, the students are working together to create shape robots. These should be finished this week. They are AWESOME and I can’t wait for you all to see them! Students will also be playing a few games to practice identifying shapes with partners this week as well.
We will begin our work with fractions this week and work with Hershey bars to get us started! Students will be learning about the parts of a fraction and how to partition a shape.
Please continue to practice math facts at home each night. As always, if you have any questions of concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out!
