Meet the Teacher

I started teaching in China, when my two boys were little.  I taught Conversational English to middle and high school students at a private Chinese boarding school in Shanghai.  When we returned to Pennsylvania, I began working as a literacy assistant, helping elementary students learn to decode words, build their fluency and understand what they read. I loved working with small groups of students to help them learn and grow, so I decided to get a teaching certificate. Since earning my Masters’ degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Rosemont College, I have completed a Master’s degree in Reading, and my Reading Specialist’s Certificate, from Edinboro University.

I love children’s books and hope to inspire students to develop a love for reading and writing.

When I’m not in the classroom, I enjoy cooking, visiting art museums and gardens, driving country roads, berry and apple picking, browsing for antiques, and cherished moments with my family.
