Land of the Rising Sun: Culture and Comparisions

The other week my students went to Hiroshima and Nagasaki Japan on a Google Expedition using virtual reality.  We were reading a story set in World War II about the Navajo Code Talkers.  In the story, we learned all about how the Allies used the Navajo Code Talkers language to send secret codes back and forth to help them win the war against Germany, Italy, and Japan.

I challenged my students to learn more about the Japanese culture and compare it to American culture.  My students have been using CultureGrams to research, listen to interviews of Japanese citizens, and watch videos about the people and culture of Japan.  My students are working on infographic charts created using Piktocharts to display the information that we have gained about the Japanese culture from our research.

We hope you will come and visit our infographics and leave us a comment.  As always Happy Blogging.
