We are learning about the Scientific Method. With each step in the scientific method we have conducted experiments. The students have really enjoyed this last one. The students observed the reaction that soap had with the food coloring and wrote the steps of the experiment on the back of their paper.

Hello Everyone,
It has been a while since we have posted on this blog site. With the craziness of the holidays over we can now start focusing on Science and the Science PSSA’s that are coming in April. Our next Unit in Science will be on Electricity. We will be looking at circuits and how they work. If you get a chance go to the library or research on the internet information about circuits and have discussions at home with your children about Electricity.
It is that time again for another test. The protecting ecosystems test will be on Friday 11/21/14. I have handed out a study guide and a graphic organizer for the students to study off of. Please encourage your children to bring home their science books and read over the information on pages B48-B80. Also, encourage your children to play the online interactive protecting ecosystem games I have linked on the side of the blog page. These games are full of helpful information that will be useful on the test.
Our next topic in science will be Protecting Ecosystem. This is topic will be dealing with pollution, recycling, and how to take care of the environment. Talk with your children about the importance of protecting ecosystems, and what you as a family can do to help protect ecosystems.
Hello Everyone,
On October 27th Mr. Geiman’s class will be taking an Ecosystem Test. Students have been reviewing and studying ecosystems for the past 4 weeks and we are ready to take our test. Each student has been given a graphic organizer with vocab words and important information for the test. Also, each student has been given a review sheet with information that they will need to know for the test. Please make sure everyone is studying their notes this weekend and also have your children visit the Ecosystem links on the side of my blog page for further review of information.
Today in science we created ecosystem pie charts. The students are learning that an ecosystem has many components. These components are community, population, and organisms.
Today in Language Arts class we started blogging. We are very excited about this new adventure and are still working out the kinks. The students in my language arts class have their own blog pages and have changed their themes and also posted to their own blog sites. I encourage you to ask your children about what it is they are blogging and to look over their blog site with them. I will be creating a link to the Language Arts blog site shortly on this page. I will have the students blogging periodically about topics we are discussing in class. Hope you are as excited as we are and look forward to seeing the responses throughout the year.
We are going to have a short science quiz on Friday. The quiz will be on the scientific method. The students were given each a study guide to help them study for the test. Also if they go onto Blue Ball Elementary webpage and click on Teacher Pages. They can access under Mrs. Landis’s page science resources to help them study for the quiz.
